Wellington Museum features not only the cultures of various African ethnic groups, but also prides itself in having ties with countries as far afield as the USA, England, Scotland, France and the Netherlands. They exhibit Stone-Age artefacts, a major collection of Egyptian artefacts and exhibits of various pioneers who made their mark on the history of Wellington and South Africa. Many historical sites, as well as ancient San rock art, the graves of the Bains Pass builders and disused manganese mines can be experienced on routes in the Limietberg Nature Reserve.

Strolling through the Breytenbach Gallery and – Art Shop that lies in the premises of the Breytenbach Centre will lift your spirits. There is just so much beauty to look at and admire. Exhibitions are held here where up and coming local artists display their work.
A stroll in the centre’s Garden of Poets brings peace and calm. The building dates back to more than 150 years and has been home to many including being used as a day hospital. They aim to develop creative activities to help build and develop the community and ultimately contribute to the country’s cultural life. The centre is used for training workshops where arts, music, drama and writing are grown, and wants to empower the community by providing multi-dimensional cultural programs.
The Bôrdienghuis Theater on the premises, is an intimate venue where performances ranging from music to cabaret and drama are regularly offered.
A real jewel in Wellington, Zomerlust is a house restaurant situated in a beautiful, elegant old home in the centre of town. The lady of the house, Esti, loves to cook and will cook for you upon reservation. This is an in-home dining experience not to be missed.
