Seisoen se eerste volmaanpiekniek wink

Meeste mense is dalk Covid-19-voos, maar soms is alles net maanskyn en rose, veral as jy die volmaan van nader bekyk op ʼn heerlike somersaand op die beeldskone Paarlberg. Daarom nooi die Afrikaanse Taalmuseum en -monument se vriendelike personeel almal hartlik uit om die eerste Volmaanpiekniek van die seisoen op Vrydag, 22 Oktober 2021, met hulle te vier.

Dié pieknieks is baie gewild onder plaaslike inwoners én toeriste, wat veral die sonsondergang en pragtige naguitsig van die vallei geniet. Besoekers kan enige tyd tussen 17:00 en 22:00 kom piekniek hou en die monument, ʼn simboolgelaaide beeldhouwerk sonder weerga, besigtig. Besoekers word ook aangemoedig om die omgewing te verken en daar is buitelug-speletjies en speelparke vir die kinders. Gaste is welkom om hul eie piekniekmandjies te bring. Toegang is R40 per volwassene, R10 vir SA studente en pensionarisse, en gratis vir kinders onder 18 jaar asook jaarpermithouers. Kaartjies is beskikbaar by Computicket of die hek, en geen besprekings is nodig nie. Jaarpermitte is beskikbaar teen R120 vir individue of R220 per gesin (tot 30 November 2021 teen ʼn 20%-afslag aangebied), wat toegang tot alle Volmaanpieknieks insluit. Die piekniekreeks word aangebied ten bate van ‘Laat ons Lees!’, die Taalmuseum se geletterdheidsprojek vir kinders, en besoekers word versoek om ʼn nuwe of tweedehandse kinderboek te skenk.

Taalmonument promises the moon – for real
Season’s first full moon picnic beckons

Most people are fed-up with Covid-19, but you don’t need to cry for the moon to make a perfect evening out possible. Simple join the Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument’s friendly staff on the picturesque Paarl Mountain to celebrate the first Full Moon Picnic of the season on Friday, 22 October 2021, with them.

The picnics are very popular with local residents and tourists alike, who especially enjoy the sunsets and incredible night scenes. Visitors can come anytime between 17:00 and 22:00, and have a look at the monument, which is an exceptional, symbol-rich sculpture. Visitors are also encouraged to explore, and there are outdoor games and playgrounds for children. Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets. Dress warmly and bring a torch, and a mask. Tickets are R40 per adult, R10 for SA students and free for children under 18 years and holders of annual permits. They are available from Computicket or at the gate, and no booking is required. Annual permits are available at R120 for individuals or R220 per family (offered at a 20%-discount until 30 November 2021), which includes access to all Full Moon Picnics. The evenings are held in aid of ‘Let’s Read!’, the Language Museum’s literacy project for children, and visitors are encouraged to donate a new or second-hand children’s book.
