The days are getting hotter, sun is setting later, and a fresh breeze is blowing through the Winelands. Come and enjoy the fruits of the harvest at our 5 course VIP food and wine pairing hosted by Charles Back and the Golfing Goat restaurant.
Charles Back is the third-generation owner of South African wine and cheese producer, Fairview. From the start, Charles wanted to do things differently – introducing Mediterranean grapes such as Viognier, Tempranillo, Sangiovese and Petite Sirah to the Cape. He also began to make artisanal cheese – a business that has gone on to become every bit as prestigious and successful as wine. In 1996 the South African Wine Magazine voted Charles Back second most influential person in the South African wine industry – after Nelson Mandela, and in 2014, Charles received the International Wine Challenge Lifetime Achievement. In his characteristic humility, he expressed “But I have barely begun to achieve what I want to achieve!”.
